Reduction in the cost of Learner Theory Tests
The Department of the Environment (DOE) Minister Environment Minister, Mark H Durkan, has announced that the cost of the driving theory test will be cut by nearly 25%, saving learner drivers over £400,000 annually.
Note that the annual £400,000 is not each individual learner driver or rider, why the need to spin the figures?
Anyway the minister laid out the individual savings as:
“I am pleased to announce that from this October the fee for car and motorcycle theory tests will fall by £5, taking the cost of a test from £30 to £25.
I can also announce that I will reduce the fee by a further £2 in October 2015 to bring the cost down to just £23.
Theory test fees for other categories of vehicle will also be reduced.
“By agreeing new contract arrangements for the delivery of theory tests I have secured significant cost savings.
I believe it is both right and proper that I pass these savings on to our customers.
It is my intention to ensure that my Department’s services are delivered in such a way that they meet customers’ needs at the least cost possible.”
