Todays Ancestors MCC annual and 21st Toy Run, raising funds and collecting toys for the Children’s Ward in the Ulster Hospital, can only be hailed as a fantastic job by the Ancestors MCC and all that attended.
From the now usual start at Ballygowan the run went out to Saintfield, across to Lisburn into Belfast and then to the Ulster Hospital.
At Custom House Square in Belfast apparently the Queens University Juggling club were arranged for a bit of Juggling & Balloon modeling and the Coke a Cola big rig was in attendance with hot drinks also available for a warm up from an alternative stall.
The hospital staff put on the usual warming cup of soup/tea/coffee and some nibbles at the end of the run.
All the money which is raised goes directly towards the sick children in the hospital to try and make their stay as comfortable as possible and enable the staff to buy toys and decorations for Christmas and birthdays.
The Ancestors Chairman, Joseph Cookie Coogan, “I would like to thank everyone who took part in our 21st toy run 2012 we managed to raise £2080 plus change and a van load of toys and gifts for the hospital you should all be very proud of yourselves.
Also thanks to the members of the PSNI who helped make the run go smoothly and to the clubs who take part and also the individual motorcyclists.
Last but not least the marshalls and the members of the ANCESTORS they all work really hard every year to make this work, finally a big THANK YOU to CATHY who loan me her bike for the run.”
Fantastic stuff from the club and I even got the chance to get roped into marshalling.
All in all a grand day out!
