Ancestors MCC – Christmas Toy Run

Ancestors MCC – Christmas Toy Run for the Childrens Ward at the Ulster Hospital Dundonald

It’s that time of year again, when we all start to think about Christmas and buying gifts for under our Christmas tree.

We would ask you all to keep Sunday the 11th December free and come along and join the Ancestors on their yearly fund raiser for the Children’s Unit in the Ulster Hospital.

As always, it’s £5 per bike and a toy or vouchers (if you can), i.e. from Smiths, Early Learning Centre etc.

I know things are getting tighter for everyone but it’s for a good cause.

Remember, it’s a family event and even if you can’t come on your bike bring the kids along and soak up the atmosphere with lots of Santa’s riding their bikes.

We are planning some entertainment at Ballygowan and hopefully some special guests so keep watching out for any updates, a hot food van will be there to keep us all supplied with food, tea and coffee.

Please let all your friends and family know about the run as we want to get the news out and ensure that there will be a good turnout, feel free to forward it onto any biker friends.

The run starts at 1pm, meeting from 12.00 onwards in Ballygowan then heading onto Sprucefield and stopping for a few minutes break before going onto Custom House Square, via the City Hall, and finishing with soup and rolls at the Ulster Hospital, where all funds raised will be handed over.

The staff at the hospital love to see all the bikers and friends so they can thank everyone personally.

We look forward to seeing you in Ballygowan on the 11th December.

Remember if you can’t do the full run you can join up with us at any of the mentioned stopping places where you can leave your donations.

If you require any further information please contact Cookie on 07739019671 or myself on 07792226027.

Regards

Heather

2010 – Ancestors MCC  Toy Run Children’s Ward Ulster Hospital

The Ancestors MCC Annual Toy Run from Ballygowan saw a large contingent of bikes, scooters, mopeds, trikes and sidecars head off to the Ulster Hospital Children’s Ward in bright sunshine and freezing temperatures.

The run escorted by the PSNI motorcycles, stopped off at Sainsbury’s trailer park Sprucefield and then on to Custom House Square Belfast for a stop before heading to the Ulster Hospital, for a warming cup of soup and a great spread of food.

A total of £1700 was raised along with a small mountain of toys for the children’s ward.

Heather Barr from the Ancestors MCC, said, “Thank you to all those who came out to support the Ancestors Toy run. The generosity of all those who took part in the run and also of those clubs and individuals who could not make it but sent toys and money, was greatly appreciated by the staff at the Ulster Hospital.

Heather added, “As always the biker community should be proud for what they achieved today and throughout the year. Thank you all again!!”

Thank you Ancestors MCC for all the hard work behind the scenes and on the day!

  3. Ancestors Toy Run Update
The Lord Mayor of Belfast, Councillor Niall O’Donnghaile, will greet the bikers at our second stop in Custom House Square, Belfast.
A huge thank you to the Lord Mayor for making time for us, especially on a Sunday afternoon.
A special guest on our run 2 years ago will be starting the run for us this year and will travel with us on the run, she is of course Laura Lacole (Miss Beach Babe 2011). We are delighted to welcome her back this year & look forward to seeing her on the 11th.

  4. Message from the Chairman of the Ancestors
Well peeps 19 hrs and counting till Toy Run 2011.
The first toy run was in 1991. I was there in “92” on the XS and it was feckn cold so cold I only made it to Saintfield before the XS did what most XS250’s did and stopped. but it was a great day all the same, grey ,cold and lots of wax cotton and leather no fancy gore-tex.
The club raised £1500 and a shit load of toys and games. With about 65 bikes at that time on the run it seemed there were more police than bikes at one stage. Oh and I must not forget the muppet in the Sierra drove at some of the marshalls and nearly hit some bikes.
No media coverage was given to the bikers on the day but a big pat on the back to each other was good enough.
Well 20 years on the run has got a little bit bigger so come tomorrow I hope you all have a good safe run and remember the police are not just there to look after us they will book you if you f@ck around so please do what the marshals tell you to do.
The Ancestors would like to thank everyone who has taken part over the years……………..
