Events – Nothing To Do?

August has blown in grey and damp, however Right To Ride’s supporters have events on throughout the month to lift our spirits.

Ancestors MCC

The first supporters’ event is the Ancestors MCC 21st Anniversary Birthday Party on the 6th – 8th August at Ballynahinch Rugby Club, with all the usual craic and plenty of good music.

The live music is on Friday and all day Saturday, plus silly games, a ride out, custom show, trophies and prizes.

For the kids there is a bouncy castle, face painting and goodie bags, in addition, there are Helicopter rides (£25 per person over for approx 20 mins) families definitely welcome but no children in bar after 7 pm.

For the “alleged” grown ups, Mart Fallon from the Motorsport Academy will be bringing his monster energy wheelie machine all the way from Galway.

Cherrybomb will be on hand all weekend for those needing a bit of ink.

There is hot food, stalls and Disabled facilities as well as hot showers, with the CMA (Christian Motorcyclists’ Association) on hand with their Holy Joe’s café, for those who need a refreshing cuppa and a bit of relaxation.

Quay Vipers MCC

Second supporter’s event is the Quay Vipers MCC.

The club must be the biggest motorcycle supporters of charity fund raising in Northern Ireland and their ride out in conjunction with the Mid Antrim Animal Sanctuary is on Sunday 15th August.

This annual ride out is in aid of homeless animals and it leaves Carrickfergus Harbour car park at 1pm.

The ride out is “Learner Friendly” and Trikes are welcome, with a donation of £5 per bike on the ride out.

There is also a monster free raffle & BBQ on completion of the run.

Coyotes RC

The third weekend in August sees the Coyotes RC 4th LOL (Laugh Out Loud) Rally on Friday 20th & Saturday 21st August with a new venue at Ballymena Rugby Club.

The full weekend rally will have live bands all weekend, Tattooist, Stalls, Trophies, Camping, Chip Van, Portaloos and Secure Parking, includes the biker wedding of Lucy & Willie.

The club is encouraging all bikers/friends to join Willie and Lucy.

There is a Hen & Stag Night, Fun & Games on the Friday, a procession of bikes on Saturday afternoon from the rally heading towards Ballymoney for a ride around the ‘Toon’, then riding back to the rally venue ‘Ballymena Rugby Club’ for the wedding ceremony performed by Padre.

For partying into the wee small hours, bands on the Friday night are Ruf N Redi and Sweetleaf, on Saturday night the bands are Tommy Shots, Resurrection and Sweetleaf.

“Help For Heroes”

On top of our supporters’ events is a charity ride out in aid of “Help For Heroes” on Sunday 8th August.

The charity ride out by the Unwanted MCC will be approximately 50 miles and broken into small sections, with learner and restricted riders welcome.

The start point is G.S Motorcycles, Pennybridge at 1pm and finishes at Kilrea Primary School.

There will be a raffle with great prizes and refreshments at both start and finish, with donations of £5 per bike.

Help for Heroes was founded by Bryn and Emma Parry in October 2007 out of a desire to help the wounded Servicemen and women returning from Afghanistan and Iraq.

The message of the charity is simple: We are strictly non political and non critical; we simply want to help.

So, there you are sitting around the house wondering what to do, well now there is no excuse to stop you from getting out on the bike in August and head to our supporters’ events and charity fundraising!
